Online Bingo Chatroom Etiquette
So you're in a bingo chat room, and you're thinking its just another day in cyberspace. But what you need to know is the online bingo is pretty much like its land-based counterpart. People in online bingo chat rooms can be become pretty close, even if they're divided by geography or even language. There are certain behaviors, rules, and language that are pretty unique to online bingo chartrooms, and if you want to join an online bingo chat room or new to one, here are some tips on what to do and what not do, even if you're only in cyberspace.
First of all, it's a good idea to let everyone you've arrived by greeting everybody once you log in. You can do the same for those who just logged in. Greeting people can not only make you feel more comfortable, it also makes others feel more welcome and more likely to return.
Once a game gets going on and a winner emerges, its always good to be a gracious loser. If you happened to think that you were about to win but wasn't lucky enough to get that last number, don't despair. There are thousands of more games that you can win in. Some bingo players express their disappointment by muttering under their breath, making snide and even offensive remarks about the winners, and some would even revert to making obscene gestures. This kind of behavior actually happens but it does not mean that you also have to do the same.
A brief but well meant WTG (way to go) or GJ (good job) can do wonders for your online bingo relationships, and in the event that you win, you will be able to appreciate the support of your online friends better.
Numbers the players hope to come will commonly flash on the screen, and the numbers can appear a couple of more times and no one would mind. That said, be courteous and try not to fill the whole screen with you numbers, or take turns flashing your numbers with other players who like to 'cheer' for their numbers too. Others can get pretty tired of looking at numbers instead of real, ongoing conversations.
The thing that tops the bad manners lists is the use of offensive words or offensive behavior. This could take the form of using racial slurs, swear words, harassing another online player, etc. If you see this kind of behavior being displayed, do not be afraid to ask the person to stop. If the actions go unheeded go to the moderator, the host, or the support. If they can't make the person stop, they could always throw the person out or ban him from the site.
Most of all, have fun. You are here because you have the same passion for the game, and at the end of each game, whether you win or lose, that's all that matters.
